Originally created to be a digital archive for Lowell documents from 1826 to 1861, this website has grown to cover many periods and events in Lowell's history.

The images below are from the December 14, 1827 edition of the Lowell Journal. We do not know why this specific newspaper was stored away and survived for so many decades. It is presented here as an example of of a newspaper in the Town of Lowell with its articles, advertisements, and notices.
