Building

We are located in the Patrick J. Mogan Cultural Center, across the street from the Lowell National Historical Park Visitor Center. Once you enter the building, continue straight down the ramp and CLH will be at the bottom of the ramp, on your left.

Parking

• Staff/faculty of UMass Lowell with a valid parking pass: Faculty and staff parking is located at Tsongas Center Lot B, 99-1 River Place, Lowell, MA. This lot is about a 5-10 minute walk from CLH.
• All other researchers: The most convenient parking is at Joseph M. Downes, Sr. Municipal Parking Facility, 75 John St., Lowell, MA  

• Disabled Parking: There are 2 spots to the left of the Mogan Center, directly across from Kirk Street.

Please note: Metered street parking in the area is limited, and violations are swiftly ticketed.

Do not, under any circumstances (even for a quick stop), park in the lot at the corner of Kirk and French Street across from the high school.  This lot is for residents of Edge Merrimack River Apartments only and the management company tows cars aggressively. The fee to retrieve your car after a tow is $145 as of Fall 2023

Campus Shuttle

• Students, faculty, and staff of UMass Lowell can ride the campus shuttle to the USuites bus stop on East campus.  The Center for Lowell History is a 15 minute walk from the shuttle stop.
• In August 2025, UML announced a partnership with the LRTA that will expand the orange line route from 7:15 a.m. - 11 a.m. as route #20. Route #20 will extend Orange Line service to the Tsongas Center and Lowell Train Station / Kennedy Center.  Busses will run every 30 minutes. The Center for Lowell History.

Public Transportation

Lowell Regional Transit Authority Buses

• Line 8 stops at the corner of French Street and John Street, and is less than 3 minutes walk. 

• Line 18 stops at Lowell High School and is less than 3 minutes walk.

• Line 9, the Lowell Circulator, stops in front of the Tsongas Center and then is a 10 minute walk.

• Up to date routes and schedules are available on the LRTA website.

• UMass Lowell students, faculty, and staff can also ride the LRTA for free when they swipe their UCard.
