UML Library is pleased to announce the launch of a new institutional repository, UMass Lowell RAD (Research, Archives, and Data)!
Thank you for your interest in supporting the UMass Lowell University Library. Your help allows us to fulfill our goals of creating a culturally responsive collection, providing equitable access, and fostering an inclusive environment for the campus community.
The library is located at three different locations including the Center for Lowell History in downtown Lowell, a critical resource for preserving Lowell’s historical and cultural heritage. We welcome your financial donation.

If you would like to discuss any of the following funding opportunities, or other ways of supporting the University Library, please contact Carolyn Brooks (Carolyn_Brooks@uml.edu).
These are three of our primary funding priorities that you can support.
Funding for Student Employees
As the largest student employer on campus, the University Library plays a vital role in student success. We offer a variety of career-connected experiences for students. This fund would allow us to hire students who haven’t been awarded work study financial aid support. The wages for one student employee cost approximately $2500 a semester.
Recreational Reading and Wellness Initiatives
There has been an increase in demand for more recreational collection in order to support curricular initiatives as well as to respond to student demand, Supporting this initiative allows us to continue to grow these collections at both Lydon and O’Leary. Additionally, we can collaborate with colleagues from across the campus to support students’ mental health, social engagement, and overall wellbeing. Even small donations make a big impact.
Growing & Equitizing Library Collections
The Library develops our collections strategically in order to support academic research. Equity across disciplines is a priority, and entails an expansion of our subscriptions portfolio, as well as one-time purchases of books and other materials in a variety of formats. Even small donations make a big impact.
Gifts of Library Materials
The Library welcomes gifts of books that meet the university’s research and curricular needs, and are less than 10 years old.
If you wish to donate items that fit those criteria, email library_acquisitions@uml.edu with a list of items including title, author, year of publication, and any other pertinent information. The items will be evaluated for relevance and usefulness to the Library collection.
Once received, the Library owns the gift materials and may choose to keep, discard or donate them. The Library is unable to return donated materials. Donations that arrive without preapproval will not be accepted.
For donating rare materials, contact the Center for Lowell History.
