The Criminal actions of the Lowell Police Court were published, sometimes intermittently, in the contemporary newspapers.  These listings are presented as Alphabetical records as reported in the column POLICE COURT. Occasionally, there is a more detailed story behind these simple entries, either in the same issue or a previous or subsequent issue of the paper.

The following abbreviations are used:

ADV = Advertiser
LPC = Lowell Police Court

CCP = Court of Common Pleas (to 1859)

SC= Superior Court (after 1859)

VOX = Vox Populi

SJC = Supreme Judicial Court
