UMass Lowell Library Guide for Faculty

Library Research Support

Welcome! We provide:

  • In-depth research collections
  • One-on-one consultations with research librarians
  • Consultation on citation management software
  • Consultation on open access publishing and data management
  • And more!

Citation Management Software

UMass Lowell provides a subscription to EndNote, which is one of the major software programs that helps manage citations and format papers.

The library also supports Zotero, a free citation management software developed by and for academics.

Data Management

The library has a growing team who can help you with research needs such as:

  • Understanding funding requirements around posting open access versions of relevant data and results
  • Finding a reliable place to post your published articles and conference presentations
  • Developing a data management plan for grant applications
  • Understanding options to support open access publishing costs

Library Research Collections

Article Quick Search and the book Catalog are the best two places to start on the library's home page.

For a deeper diver into library resources in a particular subject area, next try:

  • Research Guides, organized by subject, which gather library resources specific to that topic or discipline
  • Full A-Z List, an alphabetical list of the databases to which we subscribe. Use the subject or type filters to narrow down.

Find Full Text PDFs at the Library Website

If you already have a citation, the quickest way to see if we own an article is to use our Article QuickSearch on our home page.

  • Type in the full article title and the author's last name
  • The system should find a record for that article
  • Look in the upper-left corner for either an immediate PDF link, or a "Find Full Text" link that will check library holdings for you

Find Full Text PDFs Wherever You Go

LibKey Nomad is a browser plugin that can help you find full text to resources the library owns, even when you're not on the library website. First install the plugin. Then whenever you search on the web, you'll be notified when the library subscribes to an article or book. If the library doesn't have access to the full text, it's an easy click to request via ILL.
