Consider Your Audience
►What do they ALREADY know and what is new to them?
►What are their expectations?
►In what way might they be resistant to your message?
►Does your white paper have a function?
Citations in white papers function differently than they do in academic research papers. Generally in a white paper, citations support the assertion of a fact, number, or a quotation. (Graham).
Choice of citation style within a white paper varies by context. There should definitely be citations where called for *, but whether there are in-text or end note citations will depend on the subject, content and audience for the white paper.
