Online Student Guide to UMass Lowell Library Services

Introduction to the University of Massachusetts Lowell Library resources and services for students in online programs.

Databases

The Library's journals are accessible through our databases. The Library has hundreds of databases that cover both broad general subjects and ones that are specific to a particular subject or field of study.

  •   Simple searches  cover either a keyword, author,  or title.
  •   Advanced searches allow you to search terms in multiple fields (author, title, subject, source, etc.,) in one search.
  •   The advanced mode will also allow you to add limiters such as date, peer review, particular publications and other fields specific to each database in your original search strategy.

Whether you use a simple or advanced search you will still have the opportunity to modify or limit it once you see a results list.

To locate the best databases for your research, check the A-Z Database list where you can search by subject, title, or type of database.

The Article Quick Search Link on the Library homepage searches the EBSCO Discovery Service. This database searches all of the EBSCO Publisher databases, along with some others, in one search.
