These "flat" files are named because they are generally the largest items in our Lowell Files and, due to their size, they are housed in flat filing folders. This collection includes files such as blueprints, maps, posters, and newspapers.

These "oversized" files are named because they are the second largest-sized items in the Lowell Files and are housed in oversized boxes. This collection includes a large variety of item types, including photographs, drawings, and documents.

The "photograph and image" collection focuses on images from around Lowell, across many decades.

These "vertical" files are named because they are held in upright document boxes and most items are letter and legal sized. This collection focuses on documents and other ephemera.

The "Lowell Files, 1970-Present" collection, previously referred to as the "Current Files", contains items pertaining to contemporary history and culture in Lowell.
