In submitting their work to Scholarship@UMass Lowell, contributors will grant to the University, on an item-by-item basis, a non-exclusive, perpetual, worldwide license to distribute their materials freely. This license does not limit author rights in any way.

• Works in Scholarship@UMass Lowell are protected by copyright, with all rights reserved, unless otherwise indicated. The copyright for any work included in Scholarship@UMass Lowell is retained by the copyright owner. Scholarship@UMass Lowell does not own copyrights.

• Works are made available in Scholarship@UMass Lowell at the direction of contributors according to their understanding of their rights in that material. Works are added to Scholarship@UMass when contributors affirm that they own the rights or have authority to contribute the works.

• ​Users of Scholarship@UMass are responsible for determining whether a work is protected by copyright, the identity of the copyright owner, and the means for appropriately using the work.

• Submitters are responsible for verifying the availability of published copies of articles before they are submitted.  Many publications will allow pre-prints and post-prints of articles, but not actual copies of the published articles.
