Welcome to Professor Marshall's course, Disability in Literature

Literature both reflects and creates cultural messages about ability and disability, “normal” and “abnormal.” We will explore the ways that many stereotypical portrayals of people with disabilities undermine, invalidate, and infantilize the disabled community, and seek out texts that empower people with disabilities.
