Changes to Academic Standing Policy for Spring and Summer 2020

The university will temporarily suspend our student Academic Standing status process. Designations of “Warning,” “Probation,” or “Dismissal” will not appear on transcripts for Spring 2020 or Summer 2020. Students will maintain their Spring 2020/Summer 2020 academic standing through the Fall of 2020. 

CeDiploma - Certified Electronic Diplomas

Graduates will normally get their free paper diploma in the mail 4-6 weeks after conferral date (sometime in June). The Registrar’s Office has implemented and built along with the help of Web Services the digitally secured Certified Electronic Diploma. There is a $15.95 cost to download the secure certified electronic diplomas.

Summer Session

UMass Lowell Summer Session I begins May 18. Session II begins July 6.

  • Summer courses are available online or in a virtual classroom model.
     
  • UML is offering more than $500,000 in scholarships and financial aid to eligible students for the summer sessions.

Spring 2020 Pass/No Credit Option

The deadline for requesting a Pass/No Credit designation for a Spring 2020 course was Friday, May 15 at 5 pm.

  • After May 15, changes to the Pass/No Credit designation must be done through a petition to the FAHSS Dean's Office. Petitions will be considered until December 10, 2020 or your graduation date, whichever comes first.
     
  • It is critical to your academic success to discuss potential impacts of a Pass/No Credit selection with your graduate advisor, graduate coordinator, and a financial aid counselor, as appropriate.

Thesis and Dissertation Deadlines

The absolute deadline for thesis/dissertation oral defense was Friday, May 8.

The deadline for submitting written and signed thesis/dissertation was Tuesday, May 12

Health and Counseling Services

Health Services is supporting the health and wellbeing of our students using remote platforms. 

  • If you are an enrolled student and would like to speak to a health care provider to discuss your health care needs please call the Wellness Center at 978-934-6800 during regular business hours (Monday-Thursday, 8:15 am-4:45 pm and Friday, 9:15 am-4:45 pm). Health Services is not monitoring voice mail messages.
     
  • To communicate with a staff member at Health Services, please email Health_Services@uml.edu.
    • When emailing please include your name, student ID number and a phone number for us to reach you to respond to your email. Do not include any information that you would consider confidential.

Counseling Services is offering individual counseling services through telehealth (via phone or video using Skype for Business) for all enrolled, eligible UMass Lowell students who are currently residing in Massachusetts or New Hampshire.
