The future tense

The future tense expresses the expectation of action.      

 

FIRST LESSON

One way to talk about the future s to use the word "will"  WILL   

I will (verb - action word)

You will (verb - action word)

He will (verb - action word)

She will (verb - action word)

It will (verb - action word)

We will (verb - action word)

You will (verb - action word)

They will (verb - action word)

OR

I'll (verb - action word)

You'll (verb - action word)

He'll (verb - action word)

She'll (verb - action word)

It'll (verb - action word)

We'll (verb - action word)

You'll (verb - action word)

They'll (verb - action word)

 

WILL + VERB

Examples:

The sun will rise at 6.30 am tomorrow.   

If you help me, I'll help you.   

Do you think she'll come soon?   

I know she's sick today, but will she be in school tomorrow?   

What will we cook for dinner tonight?

Another way to talk about the future - (BE) GOING TO + VERB   

The “be” verb is conjugated according to the subject (I am, you are, he is, she is, we are, you are they are).  

Examples:

  • He’s going to study all night for his test.   
  • They’re going to go to Disneyland next spring.    
  • am going to call you tomorrow. 
     

(Noun or pronoun) + (Be verb) + going to + (verb / action word)

(Noun or pronoun)   (Be verb)  going to (verb / action word) word or phrase audio
I am going to buy a new car
We are going to go to the bank
She is going to eat dinner
I am going to leave soon
He is going to play soccer
They are going to enjoy the concert
You are going to shop  for clothes
