Sign up for twitter

Step 1. Begin by going to Twitter's home page where you can sign-up for an account.

Step 2. Use your full name, email or phone, password and create a username. Usernames are unique identifiers on Twitter that your followers use when sending @replies, mentions and direct messages. You can change your username at any time from your Account Settings.

Step 3. Click Sign Up for Twitter

Step 4In order to verify your account, Twitter will send you an SMS text message with a code or an email verification. Enter the code in the box provided

Step 5. Check off your likes/interests

Step 6. Select the profiles you wish to follow. Twitter automatically generates a list of potential followers based on your likes, contacts, web history, etc. Before continuing, make sure to double-check who is selected.

Step 7. Customize your profile (you can skip this step or complete now)

Step 8. Find people you know from your email address contacts. Choose to view and add friends from any email address, or choose to skip this step.

Username vs. Your Name

Your username appears in your profile URL and is unique to you. It's used for logging in, @replies, and direct messages. It can contain up to 15 characters.


Your name is a personal identifier (sometimes a business name or real name) displayed in your profile page and used to identify you to friends, especially if your username is something other than your name or business name. Change your name by following instructions here. It can contain up to 20 characters.

multiple accounts?

Yes! You can have more than one account on Twitter. You can sign up for an additional account on the Twitter main page.

Please note, each account must have a unique email address associated with it. An email address can only be associated with one Twitter account at a time.
