Assignments

Assignments – 20 points

Each student is responsible for completing 4 written course assignments that will introduce you to real entrepreneurs, on campus and in the broader community.  These written assignments are due on Feb. 4, Feb. 23, April 14, and April 28. The details for each assignment are included on the Assignment Guide that will be provided separately. LATE ASSIGNMENTS ARE NOT ACCEPTED. If you need assistance in locating an appropriate entrepreneur or activity, please speak to one of the course instructors.

Examinations – 40 points

Two exams will be administered.  Exam I will cover Weeks 1-4 and is scheduled for the week of Feb. 18. Exam 2 will cover Weeks 5 – 10 and is scheduled for the week of Mar 29. THERE ARE NO MAKE UPS except for extremely extenuating circumstances beyond the student’s control. There is also an OPTIONAL Final Exam given during the final exam period. If you decide to take the exam it will replace your LOWER of the two semester exams. Additional details will be provided.

Class Participation – 20 points

Students will use iClickers for class participation. You DO NOT need to purchase them. You will be assigned a clicker which you will collect and turn in at the end of each class. There are two components to the participation grade.

In-class polling –Throughout the semester in most classes I will poll the class regarding their thoughts/opinions on various topics. Your responses will be tallied using the clicker. There are no right or wrong answers to these questions.
Comprehension questions – I will also ask questions that are based on assigned readings, videos, podcasts, etc. You will be expected to come to class PREPARED. I will use the clickers to assess your understanding of the material. For these questions, you will only receive credit for questions answered correctly.

Team Project – 20 points

All students will participate on a student team which must develop a proposal for a new venture, product or solution that solves a problem that matters. This project is designed in a way that completion of each project element (outlined in Group Project Guide) will contribute to completion of the next element. The complete project, due on Apr 21, requires a project binder that includes the completed Toolkit worksheet for the proposed solution and a pitch presentation. Participation on the team, active involvement in the research component, development of both written and visual presentation aids and participation in the final presentation will all count toward each student’s final grade on this assignment. Additional details will be provided.
