Institutional Repositories at UMass Lowell: A National Model for Academic Libraries

Research Data

The Library will support documentation and records management through the Faculty Success and Innovation Center; in particular, offering and supporting our Third institutional repository (currently a sub-directory of D-Space) developed by the library to meet faculty needs for data management requirements connected to NSF- and NIH-sponsored research.

The Library will help UML investigators comply with NSF and NIH expectations to share with other researchers the primary data (in heterogeneous files) created or gathered in the course of their work under sponsored grants; and to offer technical file management guidance (file formats, metadata, standards) to faculty who are writing data management plans describing how their proposals conform to government policy on the dissemination and sharing of research results.
