The events that occur in the films are what life is like on a Navy Base and the travel of Navy men. There is footage of areas in Europe, Latin America and other places. John and Rosemary had their first child in Jacksonville, Florida where they resided on the base. There is other footage of adult get-togethers, children's birthday parties, Christmas celebrations, a graduation, a wedding, adult/children interaction and play, and a Red Sox game at Fenway Park. Segments also include the adults swimming at a large pool, a little boy receiving his first haircut, deep sea fishing, landscape as seen from an airplane, kids in costumes. Identifiable trip locations were Haiti, Trinidad, Amsterdam, Niagara Falls, Italy, the Vatican, England complete with a changing of the guard ceremony in London.
