Chemical and Biological Engineering

What is Chemical Engineering?

Chem·i·cal En·gi·neer·ing

Apply the principles of chemistry, biology, and physics to solve problems involving the production of chemicals, fuel, drugs, food, and many other products.

UML Chem. Engineering

The Chemical Engineering Department comprises an accomplished faculty, a diverse range of programs and degrees and well-established ties to industrial and research institutions.

The department has many focus areas that reflect its strengths, such as

Advanced engineered materials

Nuclear engineering

Paper engineering

Process controls

Students may select a basic chemical engineering curriculum or a more specialized curriculum in biological, nanomaterials, nuclear or paper engineering, all of which stem from the basic program. This LibGuide covers biological engineering, nanotechnology, materials, polymers, paper and process controls. Another LibGuide covering energy engineering can be found here

Welcome to the Chemical and Biological Engineering Page

The purpose of this Research Guide is to provide resources including websites, books, journals and databases that cover the topics of Chemical Biological Engineering. This Website is organized into the following sub-pages:

Areas of Interest: To search within a particular topic, click the page link to the left for that particular field of interest. For instance if you are interested in researching nuclear energy, click "nuclear" in the menu on the left-hand side of any page on this guide.

Books: Browse through popular Energy Engineering textbooks and see several useful resources for looking up eBooks

Online Databases and Journals: Understand the basics of research with top journals and databases. This page also provides information on how to use the UML Library Catalog and correctly cite.
